Debt Free Direct was established in 1997 by Lathams Chartered Accountants. The aim was to provide the widest possible range of debt solutions to the growing number of people with debt problems. The partners were aware of the different debt solutions open to such individuals ranging from re-mortgaging and debt consolidation to Debt Management and IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements).
The business was acquired through management buyout by three of the former partners of Lathams in May 2001. It has since floated on the AIM market in December 2002.
